Good Monday all !

We have just installed 3cx for a large customer of our and are going through the usual teething problems you get afterwards as you all know , no two customers are the same !

Anyway we have a specific requirement for this customer, they have a number of extensions in a warehouse that when they are rang, it rings a warehouse bell at the same time. This was done on the old system using a routing rule for when anyone rings a certain ext (eg108) it will ring both ext 108 and the bell extension which is 120. I would like to do something similar here.

If I was to do something similar would I do it in the outbound rules where say if someone dialled 108 it would ring a group (811) with both 108 and 120 in that group, do outbound rules in 3cx include internal calls or just external outbound calls ?

You wouldn't do this as an outbound rule.

Ideally, you would use a ring group - so ext 108 is a ring group and ext 120 and the ext of the bell would be members with a ring all.

Better way, although more complex, is register the bell to 3CX ALSO as ext 108 so that both devices would ring as ext 108.

Thanks for your quick response !

Re your first suggestion , that wouldn't work as we have some people dial the number, some people click on a BLF shortcut , and some people would click on the phone icon on the team view next to their extension.

The second suggestion is what I went for and got working for one extension, problem being is that they have more than one extension that needs to use this bell and the bell is physically plugged into line 1 of the cisco adapter ...

Was just wondering if something could be done at the server end so that when user 108 rings it will ring user 120 at the same time without having the end user having to ring a group number.

Put 120 as mobile number in the warehouse extension. And let the mobile ring simultaneously (under forwarding rules of the warehouse extensions)

I was literally looking at another issue and saw this suggestion ... have put it in place thanks for this !

Glad you got a solution.

Another low tech way to do this if you have ata's connecting your bells is a rj11. Splitter. Simply plug the bell into 2 ata ports (or more).

Or get a SIP bell with multiple account support.

That was the last direction I was going in, its an SPA112 so has two lines , would just have to RJ11 split the bell into both lines and it would have worked
