Ring Desk Phone & Windows App (And Soft Phone If Away From Desk)

Dear All

Currently, when an extension rings, it is ringing the desk phone, Windows app and the soft phone on the user's mobile. This feels overkill. Is there a way I can configure an extension to just ring the desk phone (and maybe the Windows app) when the person is at their desk. When they are away from their desk, it makes sense to ring their soft phone on mobile.

I'm sorry, I've been reading through lots of help articles, but haven't found how to do this yet.

Hi Dan!

You do have some options here. 3CX works the extension by using Statuses (ie. Available, DND, Away etc).

Our statuses are individually configurable so that you can disable PUSH per status. This means you can Have "Available" with no PUSH (the mobile app does not ring) and "Available 2" with PUSH (the mobile rings. This can be done from the management console or by your mobile app by pressing the green square, and then editing individual statuses (the notebook icon). Then you tap the status you want and you switched to it.

The deskphone will always ring no matter what, because it is an independent device, but you can either turn its volume down to mute (to not annoy other colleagues) or unplug it when you are away.

The Windows app is also an independent client, you will have to exit it when you leave the desk or mute the pc.

Careful though, if you use DND on any of your registered devices - it is system wide. None of them will ring.
