Hello,

I set up a 3cx for a new client, and noticed a feature that I'm not sure how to set...

The customer wants the ring group name to show when their web client or phone rings.

I set up the append in Contact, but it shows the inbound rule name, not the Ring group. This is not what they want.

They have 2 numbers. 1 main number and 1 number that goes to a RG. If the 2nd number rings then thats fine as it shows the inbound rule name associated to the RG, but if they call the main number and reaches a ring group through the IVR, it just says Main number regardless of which ring group they've reached.

Example attached

How do I append only the RG name? They dont care to know which number was dialed.

Under Contacts - Options , you need to tick required options for Groups

I have done this. It prepends the Inbound rule name as shown in the attachment. It does not show the ring group itself.

They dont care to know which number was dialed.

If this is the case, then try shortening the DID rule name, maybe just the last 4 numbers , so there is room for the ring group name.

The thing is, on the phone/webclient it only shows

Inbound rule name:callerid(callerdid)

It doesnt show the ring group name in any of it, so even if I shorten the Inbound rule name, they wont see which ring group is ringing.

Just to clarify again

Caller calls to the Main number > Gets transferred to the IVR > Opt 1 is a ring group, opt 2 is a different ring group and so on.

Some users are in multiple ring groups, but they need to know which ring group is calling them, as they may need to answer differently.

Right now, no matter the ring group, it will say "Main number:callerid(callernumber)", there is no "ringgroup1" or "ringgroup2" anywhere.

I just tested and I cannot reproduce the same behavior, heres what comes up in the Webclient when an incoming calls occurs with the following call flow:

"incoming Call >> IVR >> Ring Group":

As you can see I see both the DID Rule name(1) and the Ring Group name(2). What version of 3CX are you running, are you perhaps running an older version than the latest supported one (v18.0.3.461)?

Also, where is the screenshot you provided from exactly, what section of the 3CX Webclient, is it only there you see this issue meaning it shows correctly in the dialer as seen in my screenshot?

Hello,

This is a brand new 3cx installation so it's up to date.

The screenshot I took came from the Call logs in the 3cx admin console, but it showed the same thing on their webclient.

Apparently now it's working though... It might've really been the Inbound rule name being too long as leejor mentioned (it used to be ***TEMPORARY*** Main Number). Their actual DID finished porting today so now it's just "Main Number" and they just texted me saying they see the ring group names perfectly fine now.

I'll take the blame for not testing shortening the name as previously suggested.

Thanks! Thread can be marked as Solved.
