ring group problem

I have a small problem with a ring group. I created an extension that always forwards the call to an outside line. When I call the extension directly the call gets forwarded to the outside number. I put this same extension into a ring group and call it the ring group. All the phones of the group ring when I call but the call does not get forwarded to the outside line like it is supposed to. Any ideas?
