We’d like to have incoming calls ring multiple extensions before going to the digital receptionist so we setup a ring group but calls go directly to the dgital receptionst without ringing the extensions first giving someone the option to answer the call before going to the digital receptionist. Our workaround was to send incoming calls to a a single extension then timing out to the ring group then the digital receptionist. So, how can we having incoming calls ring multiple extensions giving those people a chance to answer before going to the digital receptionist? Thanks

What method are you using to route the calls to the ring group? Are these DID numbers, an entire trunk group? The 3CX Activity Log will show why calls are going where they are. there must be something left in place that still sends the calls to the DR.

Hi Mike C,
In order for the above scenario to work three steps are required.
1. SIP Trunk settings - General, under "Destination for calls during office hours" select the Extension you want the first ring to take place.
2. In the extension's settings selected in step 1, Tab Forwarding Rules, under "After timeout forward external calls to:" and under "If I am busy or my phone is unregistered, forward calls to:" you select the ring group you have created.
3. In the Ring Group Settings selected in step 2, select ring strategy "Ring All", make sure the extensions you want are included in the ring group, and under "Destination if no answer" select Connect to digital Receptionist.

If all of the above were configured and you still got calls send directly to the DR then as leejor mentioned you still have a rule somewhere that forwards your calls to the DR. The Activity Log (Verbose Mode) would be a good place to search for the reason your scenario fails.

Thanks for the input. Apostolis, Our "ring group" is not an available pull down menu option in your (2) recommendation. We definitely have a ring group enabled but it's not an option?

Ring groups should be visible under extensions as they are assigned with an extension number. So choose "Extension" and find your ring groups extension number
