We have the 3CX client installed on all computers and we use Jabra 930 Pro headsets. We do not use handsets. Is there a way to make the ring tone differ between external and internal calls?

Hi,

The client only supports a single ringtone.

PS: For deskphones you have the option of Ringtones per Queue to differentiate queues, not for external VS internal calls.

Isn't the ringtone produced by the jabra-base-Station?

If you have ringtone in headset option enabled from Jabra software yes, otherwise you will hear the client's ringtone. But Jabra can't differentiate where the call is coming from because its not a UA, it's a headset that connects to a UA (your windows client in this case) and is just instructed to ring.

Sorry, we use a different model from jabra (Engage 75) and connected it directly to the CTI-Deskphones which support different ringtones and disabled the ringsound fromt he basestation. i am not shure what the users hear in the headset while ringing.

I suppose the users should be hearing the deskphone ringtone in this case. The PBX allows you to differentiate the ringtones for:
  • Custom ringtone per each queue (i.e. Use Ringtone 6 for Queue A, Ringtone 3 for Queue B etc.)
  • Default ringtone for everything else (i.e Use Ringtone 1)

Hi Markus,

Also note that deskphones support distinctive ringtones and the PBX will inform them whether it is an internal or external call, so they should in theory be able to play something different. As defined in the Yealink template for example:

Code:
distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.1.text = ivr
distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.1.ringer = 7
distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.2.text = external
distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.2.ringer = 2

Depending on the type of deskphone, you should at the very least hear a different ringtone.

In this example:
  • Calls marked as external should use Ringtone 2
  • Calls marked as ivr should use Ringtone 7
  • All other calls which won't use the Alert-Info header, shall use the default ringtone as defined under the extension provisioning tab
  • Calls coming from queues with Alert-Info header (if you used Custom Queue Ringtones) will use whatever you defined under the extension provisioning tab
