Downloaded 3CX SBC Debian ISO and installed it. Now want to perform typical Debian updates, logged in as root, but get this error. What's the fix?

Why you want to do any updates from console? Just use the management interface.

I believe 3CX took down the repository for buster thats why manually running that will fail. as bitn2 said.. run updates from the mgmt console, this will get everything you need for 3cx and OS.

No update management on a SBC...

3CX’s position is to not install updates manually since that may install code they haven’t tested.

3CX server updates install Debian security fixes only via using automatic updates. (Can turn those on/off when desired)

3CX has offered updates for SBC before but I haven’t seen one in a couple years or so. Done via the trunk page as I recall.

Did they removed this function? In v18 i could update the SBC from management console.

The SBC software itself, yes, you do via the 3CX management console.
But the OS itself for the SBC, 3CX said you have to manage updates yourself. At least in the past.

Ah, thanks, I had not seen that separated out before.

@SweetAction "might be affected" is not exactly iron clad but I guess it's the best we've got. :)

Solution to download and install 3cx public key (courtesy of this OG who used to build SBC's manually):
sudo -s
(Paste into Putty session by copying line below and right clicking mouse button so all characters are pasted.)
wget -O - http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/sbc/public.key | apt-key add -
apt update

Hi @uptime1 ,

You are correct that the solution to the error is adding the key, however be aware that the error relates to the sbc old beta-testing repository only. That means, it does not affect updating debian packages or the main repo of the SBC.

While you're here @Agathocles Prodromou perhaps you can shed some light if we should still be updating the debian backend of a SBC via apt updates or not?

I'm using 3CX SBC Debian downloaded yesterday. Is it beta?
https://www.3cx.com/docs/3cx-tunnel-session-border-controller/

To be more clear, apt update fails because the 3CX key is not present. apt update won't complete. After 3CX key is installed, apt update is happy and completes. Perhaps the 3CX SBC Debian downloadable image needs an update?

All the documentation about pushing the SBC updates from the management console... is this not on the hosted version? After the v20 upgrade, we had some issues and first thing I want to check is the SBC, however in our trunks section, there is not update option for the SBC.

Yes, for the time being debian updates on SBC servers can be installed via apt.
Looks like Debian 10 LTSC expires this year. When you all refresh Debian SBC app, can it please support Debian 12 which natively supports more hardware than D10? It seems Debian developers have found new religion and now incorporate non-free drivers into D12. Thanks!

As with V20, the SBC will also be running on Debian 12.
