is there a way that an unavailable forward can be set up, so if system sees that SBC is down, it forwards calls to a preset destination?

Hi, do you mean the 3cx sbc? if the 3CX SBC trunk is down (red dot) then the IP phones behind it will lose the registration and calls going to an unregistered extension will use the forwarding rule when unregistered.

if push notifications are enabled, will that mess it up?

Push Notifications are used for the 3CX Apps on Android/iOS when using it there will be a Push Registration with the FCM/APN servers, so the smartphone can be notified when receiving an incoming call notification, chat message, missed call...

Push notifications are not used with the 3CX SBC.

Could you please better explain what do you want to do?

what we are trying to accomplish is:
1) When SBC for hosted system shows offline, would there be a way to forward ALL calls into system to a determined destination (like an emergency forward due to phones losing registration)? or is the user "unregistered" forwarding rule the only place to control that?

2) Also, if users are member of a Ring Group or Queue, would the calls ringing to users in that group or queue follow each individual's setting for: "If I am busy or my phone is unregistered, forward calls to" forwarding rule?

I ask again, is this the 3CX SBC or a third party SBC? if you are talking about a 3CX SBC Trunk, when it goes down then as mentioned before the phones behind it will lose the registration and as consequence, the extensions will be shown as unregistered. Any incoming call to an unregistered extension will follow the forwarding rule configured in that extension for the unregistered destination (internal/external).

If the extensions are unregistered then these agents won't be polled by the system. The queue or ring group will poll only available/registered agents.

the SBC would either be a MiniPC, Raspberry Pi, or Router Phone (i.e. Yealink SIP t57w)

I think you cleared it up.
1) agents in ring group won't be polled if showing unregistered
2) calls to extensions will follow Unregistered forwarding Rule.

Yes, correct.

Glad to help you in this one.

Have a great day!

Thank you so much for all of your quick responses!

It is a problem that 3CX combines two statuses for Call Forwarding - "If I am busy or my phone is unregistered," . It would be much easier to setup appropriate forwarding if Busy and Unregistered were separate and different destinations could be selected.

agreed. like an emergency forward when the SBC's connectivity drops. Not really a problem when you have APP heavy users (and the 3CX mobile app is great); but in some offices, that's not always the case.
