SBS AD integration or Generic LDAP

So We're installing a system in the coming weeks and are looking at integrating with our AD system. Our users aren't stored at the root, though, instead being stored in MyBusiness>Users>etc etc etc. Has anyone had experience changing the root DN or Bind DN for the import? I tried doing it today and had awful luck getting anything to be be read; I think it actually took down our server for a bit.

We're running SBS 2003, and I can access all the users using an LDAP browser no problem if I can set a bind DN based on OU and similar.
