I have a client with multiple "branches". The main company uses Trunk 1. Then one department decided they needed to have separate Caller ID from the rest of the company.

We got them a second Trunk that has two DIDs, but I'm having issues getting it to do what they want it to do.

1. On their desk phones, they want to be able to choose which Trunk they call out of. example: Yealink phone, normal calls go out Trunk 1. If they press BLF 1, it routes through Trunk 2.
Currently I have Outbound rules that if a dialed number starts with *88 then strip the *88 and go out Trunk 2. Users are users, so I can't trust them to learn or remember that.

2. They want to see if a call is coming from Trunk 2. This one was easy I made a ring group and named it the same as the department.

3. They want to know if either of the two DIDs are on a call. ie: BLF 1 or 2 is lit red.

Note: I had to select a System, but this is not for a listed company.

Hello Josh.

1. You must use dial codes as you already mentioned here to achieve this goal. BLF could only be used if you wish to create a speed dial and call a specific number, which you can configure with your dial code for the outbound rule that will then be pointed to the needed trunk.
2. That is the correct solution
3. You can only see the live active call (in the management console of the PBX >> PBX Status >> Number of calls in use) and know from which trunk the call is leaving the PBX, and not which specific Caller ID is presented.
