Hi Support

We've got some OVH VPS servers running 3CX, and we've had no issues for previous installs, all our installs are OVH.

Instead of running phones through 1 or 2 SBCs, we've set up a new installation with 18 x SBC Yealink phones.

Customer is noticing choppiness in audio and i've had a listen and both parties are choppy.

Would have 18 SBC phones be more resource hungry then having say 2 SBC with the phones split over them?

Note: this doesnt happen for all calls.

Sometimes CPU spikes (could be coincidence)

I don't think so on the server end, at least that much, however, two phones behind the same SBC keep voice traffic behind that SBC. If all 18 are their own SBC then all audio flows to the 3CX server and back down again, so internal calls would use more Internet bandwidth. You could temporarily set a few to all use just one of the phones and see if the problem persists?

Record the extension and review. Make a call from outside the PBX in.
Does the PBX side recording have the choppiness? If so, it's on the VOIP or PBX side. If not, it's on the handset side.
How about a *777? Also choppy? If so, it's on the phone or PBX side.

Narrow down the bottleneck, then you can troubleshoot it.

To add further, please also check whether you have added more than 10 BLF keys per device as the same limitation that the on-premise SBC has, applies to router phones as well.
