Hello,

We frequently have that SIP connection is being down problem. We are not sure what problem is. It sometimes gets fixed by a reboot, or we do nothing and it automatically fixes itself.

Problem is, sometimes there are holidays, etc and nobody gives attention to 3CX server. SIP trunk goes down and people cannot reach us from outside without us knowing there is a problem.

We are searching for a way to be informed of such drops, if possible.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Ertan

You can receive an email when the sip trunk becomes unregistered

Settings - Email - Notifications. Tick ' When the status of a trunk / SBC changes (SBCs are considered DOWN after 5 minutes of downtime)'

I will give that a try and see if helps.

Thank you.

Have you tried another SIP trunk provider? If you have one that is failing all the time then it could be your carrier. We also provide our customers free failover routing, if their PBX is having issues we automatically failover to send their calls to another IP address or to a cell/land line.

Actually, I don't have enough knowledge to discuss. I might be wrong here. Information I have is that there is just one 3CX SIP trunk provider in my country Turkey.

Looks like there are 2 supported for Turkey.

Where can I see such a list?

What are message in 3CX logs when trunk is down? do you have a stable internet link ?
Is your pbx on premise or cloud hosted ?

I need to wait until next incident. I do not know what messages are logged.
We have a stable link. It is not our internet problem we believe.
I am not sure what you mean by premise or cloud. We have our own dedicated Linux server with 3CX installed in it.

On premise means your pbx is local installed in office, cloud hosted means pbx is on a datacenter like google , amazon, ovh .....

In that case ours is on premise.
We are going to make a test with second provider. They made necessary setup on their end.
We need to complete our side of the setup and give it a try.

The problem with "Settings - Email - Notifications. Tick ' When the status of a trunk / SBC changes (SBCs are considered DOWN after 5 minutes of downtime)'" is that it only notifies when the SIP trunk is registered. I've never received a notification when the trunk is actually down. Once the trunk is registered, we then get an email that the trunk has changed to registered.
+1 Same problem here, we get only reregister notifications without a down notification.

+1, there is 0 email notification when a trunk is down.
I just got the case with an OVH trunk ... and no automatic retry ???

  • Registration at OVH has failed. Destination (sip:91.121.129.29:5060;lr) is not reachable, DNS error resolving FQDN, or service is not available.

    SIP Server ID: 12293 24/09/2020 04:43:33

  • Trunk L:10000(OVH) has changed status to unregistered. This means that no more calls will pass via this trunk. Please check your network connection and the voip provider or other SIP PBX

    SIP Server ID: 4100 24/09/2020 04:43:33

Are you talking about SBCs or trunks? We get emails for both, but we've found the SBC "down" email is sent only after the 5 minutes. So for any short outage at a client's office we only get an email the SBC is "up" but for short SIP trunk drops we get the unregistered/registered emails immediately.
