Hello,

I'm new to 3CX and I have a Google Voice account. How do I set up 3CX with Google Voice?

Maxwell.

I bring it in as a trunk from an Obi110. However, there are rumours that GV over the Obi devices may be coming to an end.

This question has come up before but I'm not aware of any "non-hardware" solutions being offered. Someone was selling a firmware update to your old Magicjack device, that allowed GV to run over that as well.

It would not surprise me that GV goes the route of Skype, in the near future, offering paid services to users that provider their own hardware.

Is there any other FREE VoIP provider that 3CX supports?

In the mean time, I am trying to set up PBX in a Flash, but it is linux-based and is hard to set up.

Yes, I stumbled across this and have one GV account gated and registered as a SIP trunk to 3CX.. another is just a direct registration to a handset. They work like a champ.

Interesting site, I may make use of it...

As far as outgoing calls, probably not much more than some demo calls before you have to pay.

There are a number of sites that give you free incoming service, one being IPKall

SIPbroker allows outgoing calls to toll-free numbers, and some others.

While these are not "officially" supported, they can be made to work.

It is donation-driven.

I did hear an overlay "please consider a donation" prompt before the gateway made my call.. not all that bad for personal/test/temo purposes.

That's what I found out when I mentioned the site to a friend that also uses GV through an Obi device. They had been trying it out while it was "free". I'm not sure i would have made use of it, bit at least it is an alternative. I'm always a bit leery when you have to rely on calls passing through a third party as "situations" tend to change.

Thus, the test/demo/personal option.. not so much a "production" option. ;)

You get what you pay for in that case. :D
