Hi 3CX,
With the future split DNS requirement,
we want to have control and manage ourselves the dns server which will be dedicated to the VOIP.
Several challenges are encountered in customers by the fact that we do not have access to the DNS server or the management of the current DHCP server.
Adding a DNS server is not a challenge, the challenge is to configure the Desk Phones and the 3CX Desktop app to use this DNS server without custom phone template and without modifying the current network configuration.
If in the 3CX interface, in the 'Phone Provisioning' section, we could tick and set 'Static DNS', in every phone including 3CX Desktop App, that would be great. Obviously it wouldn't be possible to apply Static DNS for WebClient (WebSite) and PWA version but would still cover the majority of scenarios.
Here are a few quick examples;
- A single DNS server for several sites but no VPN between the secondary site and the main site, an entry in the DNS server causes a breakdown at the secondary site.
Client does not want to have a DNS server on each site.
We want to add our own DNS server, but it would only be solicited by VOIP.
- Another example encountered ; The DNS and DHCP server is managed by an external firm.
We cannot independently take over from another iP in the event of a breakdown.
…
Is this something you can consider please?
