Hello,
I tried searching for this one in previous post but couldnt seem to find anything. Im looking to setup 2 same model Yealink phones on the same ext, this person happens to have an office in two departments so splits time between offices. These are both local phones, same network at the on prem 3cx server. The first phone is just setup using the auto provision, plugged the phone in, found in the list and assigned it to the ext. I was wondering if I can do the exact same thing with the other yealink phone on the same ext, or if thats not supposed to be done. If not, I can always manually provision it as well to the same ext, but wanted to check to see if putting two phones on the same ext is supposed to work in 3cx, or not something you should setup. I havent tried yet, wanted to see if anyone else has this similar setup going and if they had any issues. Thanks for the help.

I'm not an expert in 3CX but I think what you could do is create a ring group or department called "Bob's Phones" or something similar. You could assign that extension to that group and then both phones would ring at the same time. You could also make it so one phone rings to the main extension and if no one picks up, it will ring the other phone. Perhaps there are better methods but these are the first 2 methods that come to mind.

Thanks for the repy, correct, i could go the ring group route but I would like to just put them both on the same ext to make it easy on the all end users. Figured it was worth asking to see if that advised against in 3cx. Rather not give them something to complain about, like a new ring group number everyone has to learn now to get a hold of this person. Also if they are in office A and call another ext and that call goes missed, that person is going to call back to office A. At that time he could be in office B now, that type of scenario.

You can add a second phone to a user via the Management Console. It will use the same config and provisioning as the first one. You can have as many as you want there. The new Admin console doesn't allow to add more than 1 phone at the moment.

Thanks again for the help

Also, IIRC an extension can have only one router phone, since that gets added in the new admin console.
