Shared Call Appearance

Hi All!!

I'm looking to see if any of you have had success in setting up a shared call appearance on 2 Yealink T4 series phones and the 3CX system. I have 2 phones provisioned as the same ext and I would like the users to be able to put calls on hold and quickly pick them up from the other phone's shared line key.

Let me know what your experience has been with this.

Just configure one of the BLF keys as shared parking - https://www.3cx.com/blog/docs/call-parking/

Within 3CX management console , under BLF for the extension configured Shared Parking.

User1 presses the shared parking blf, it turns red puts the receiver down. User2 presses the blf to pick up the call.

Also check settings for this under Settings - Call Parking Settings

I appreciate the availability of SP and I have set it up in the past. However, I would still be interested in knowing how to set up Share Call Appearances if I chose to do so.

So I've made some progress with this after digging quite a bit:

Under Settings > Parameters there is a parameter SLA_ENABLED. It was set to 0. I set this to 1. I also set the SLA_ONSUBSCRIBE parameter number.

I did not see any change on 3cx when I adjusted the parameters. So I went to the phones web config and manually changed the settings under account > advanced > shared line to "shared call appearance" on both phones. This enabled the feature that I needed.

It would be cool if there was a config field on the 3cx web panel that allowed admins to configure this on the spot. If this already exists but I am missing it, let me know.

SLA on IP phones is a crapshoot. Some do it better than others but an IP network is a poor substitute for the old digital PBX method of sharing a line. You are better off introducing your customers to the 21st century and setting appropriate expectations. But good luck!

Use a Shared Parking spot - maybe even a separate one just for those 2 to use. ie SP99

Question: I currently have music-on-hold programmed. Is it possible to set up my system so that users hear silence when I put them on shared parking this way? My use case is that I want to change an active multi-party non-3cx call from a desk phone to a DECT based portable SIP phone, and back again later when I'm on some of these marathon conference calls during the COVID-19 work-at-home shut-in.

The problem is that I can't play music for the whole group while I change phones. The conference is not on 3CX... it's through whatever conf line my employer or client uses for that particular cal.

FYI, in a google search, I see people asking about shared - bridged call appearance back in 2010 (!!!). I get that this concept only works with a small business or very small workgroup mentality... and it has limits given how a SIP PBX with IP trunking works, but the reality is that people keep *wanting* this functionality because is convenient.... and this perspective is coming from a hard-core IT guy, who runs 3CX in the cloud for his home-based phone system... just because it's cool, and because I can. (hehe!).... and I really would like this functionality too. User needs (should) drive technical solutions... and not vice-versa... just a thought.

I'm not sure if that is a default, or I had to upload something myself.
