Should I bother getting my 3CX install working?

I have a basic setup at home. An on premise 3CX server, a SIP trunk with a single number, a Yealink T23G, a Yealink W52P and a Grandstream HT802 for a FAX machine that is used for outbound faxing only. All three being supported devices. I have no need for any soft clients.

At one stage I had both Yealink phones working with the 3CX PBX, but screwed the config up somewhere along the way, and now neither will register with the server.
The maintenance / cert is expiring next week, but as I'm not using any soft clients, I don't think it matters.

I'm confused with the "free" 4 Sim Call Standard edition, and how to get a license key. Not to mention the perpetual "free" 25 user solution being advertised all over.

The question is, should I bother spending time getting the phones working with 3CX again, just to have the whole system shutdown next week when the maintenance expires?

Hello @Leigh Greyling

What licence are you currently running? If you were using a free standard licence then once the licence expires the PBX will revert to 4SC and your maintenance will renew for another year so the PBX will keep working. It really depends on what you need and what you are currently running.
Your setup seems fairly simple so it should be easy to get everything working again if you follow the 3CX provisioning guides.

Thanks for your reply. I am using the free standard licence. My only need at the moment is to have all the extensions in one group, so they all ring together. Further down the line, adding extra extensions should my partner's home business grow. I'll factory reset all the phones tonight and start from scratch.
Once everything is working again, I'll make a backup before making config changes.

So you should be good with 4 Simultaneous calls for now. You can upgrade anytime if the business grows bigger. Let us know if you face any issues with the configuration.
