We have a customer that moved over from Cisco apparently on Cisco you have more flexibility ;-)

Scenario 5 phones some are "clones" ext 1000 some are individuals ext (ex 1001 1002 1003) - They are all part of a group.

The "published info" for that floor is Ext 8000 (as they want all to call the group only) They need for emergencies for managers to call the individual extensions so that is why they are all not 1 big clone...

The issue is when calling out there doesnt seem to be a way to show on the internal ext 8000 is calling - Am i missing an secret settings?

I did see on the forums, a half fix that seems to be working - On ext 1000-1003 create an exception that from any "extension" besides the group 0000-7999,8001-9999 route to 8000 - Makes sense? I guess that helps catch miss dials but any way to just show the ring group is calling?

Why not register all phones as 8000 and then (unsupported) also register some phones with a second extension (1003, etc).

That way all phones outbound as 8000 and you still have direct lines as needed.

Custom templates and all will make this easier.

I guess you can do two lines, some people have a hard enough time with 1 ext :-) let alone 2

Internal caller Id will show the actual extension number that placed the call. Each extension can have an outside caller ID set, but that will not be used on internal calls. Haven't attempted it, but I can't see 3CX allowing you to register an extension with the same number, as a ring group. The ring group is not placing the call, so 8000 will not show.

Dump the ring group totally. You can register multiple SIP devices to the same extension and have them ring as 1 due to SIP Forking.

And because they also needs to pick a specific device, register a second extension for that.

Now all outbound calls will be able to use the default account CID they want. The end user doesn't need to think about it - phone works like normal but also rings when a second extension is called.

They are cordless phones, they do not do well with the 2 lines...
