I wondering what if anything you might use to simulate phone calls into the system for testing either load of the system or to replicate call center usage for reports, etc.? For example, if I set up a call center queue, I'd like to simulate 100 callers calling in within a period of time? Is this a pipe dream?

While I've seen hardware, made to load test telecom class 5 (PSTN) switches (usually supplied by the manufacturer of the switch being installed), I have not seen one specifically for PBX's. That's not to say they don't exist. But, unless you did a lot of installs, and had a need to use it over and over, it would be something you would lease/rent for only a short time.

There are a few tools out there, some paid for some free but I would recommend you checking out StarTrinity. It has a free and a paid version and it has a UI unlike some solutions that are command line only.
