Hello,

Since the installation of the 3CX Desktop App, the use of URI link while having an active call seems to be impossible.

When being on a call using 3CX Phone for Windows (v16.3.0.264), clicking on a tel: link will instantly put the active call on hold and write the numbers associated with the link in the Dialer part of the application. You then need to press Dial for the call to go thru.
When being on a call using 3CX Desktop App (v18.5.28 and v18.7.10), clicking on a tel: link will only bring the focus to the Dialer function without placing the active call on hold nor writing the numbers associated with the clicked link.

Is this something that was forgotten or simply how it is supposed to be?

Thank you,

Hi!

As the 2 clients (Desktop App and 'old' Windows Client) are designed and work in considerably different ways, parity of behavior is sometimes difficult.

For the time being I would say this is the expected behavior, but we shall see if there is any way some how allow the 'loading' of the new 'tel' number while on an active call.
To be clear, it is something we shall look into, but not a promise that it will be implemented.

If there is any development, I shall update this thread.

Implemented the new Desktop App yesterday. This is the complaint I received from users as well. They take many inbound calls that result in them putting that call on hold to make an outbound call from their tel: or callto: link. The desktop app is controlling a desk phone. I tried clicking New Call in the dialer and it does bring a new screen to dial that I can type in and dial, but even on this screen, clicking a tel: link does not populate the dialer.
