Hi Guys,

Just a question for my own curiosity.

I set up a Voiceflex SIP trunk using the default template and i've set the default caller ID to ABCD

Havent touched any of the other settings just left it as the 3CX template for VF - VF portal set to "pass-through" the number.

When I make an outgoing call, the reciever gets "unknown number"

the activity log is showing "EXTName"<sip:[email protected]>

When I go in to the SIP trunk and change outbound paramter "from: Display name" to "OriginatorCallerID" the correct caller ID is displayed.

However, activity log still shows From: "EXTName"<sip:[email protected]>

As i've typed this out i've done a wireshark trace from 3CX console and it is actually sending the caller ID.

I'm assuming I have to restart services for the activity log to reflect this too?

Cant do It right now as its a live system and i'm too impatient to wait to find out.

thanks!

Hello @kieferschild

I believe that what you are looking at in the activity log is the Invite from the extension to the PBX. You should look for the second Invite that goes from the PBX to the provider.

Does you provider allow you to send caller ID, many don't, or limit the number to one that is assigned by them. You might save youself some time, by checking with them, for the reason they see, for the failure of the call.

The are a supported provider with 3CX so the template should not need any alteration: I would possibly Wireshark to understand if it is being sent correctly.

We use Voiceflex for most of our systems and always setup with caller ID passthrough on the Voiceflex portal

the outbound caller display needs to be the complete number 01234567890 either on the SIP trunk settings (this will be used if there is nothing set for the extension) or the extension settings, we have found that spaces e.g. 01234 567890 will result in unknown number being displayed

Also keep in mind that you can pass the outbound Caller ID Number, not the Caller ID Name.

The Caller ID Name (CNAM) will be pulled from the central shared CNAM database. If you want the name changed that request needs to be submitted through the carrier for the number.
