Hi all,

I'm generally new to VoIP side of things. Say I have an office in country A and another in B, Do i need 2 different SIP trunking (1 in A and 1 in B) or 1 is enough?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @MegDown

That depends on your setup and how you plan to use it. You may get away with using 1 trunk for both countries but it may actually be cheaper if you use 1 trunk for each country. It also depends if you have a PBX in each country or if you are connecting the offices via a bridge, VPN or you have remote phones.

Without knowing your use case it's hard to answer the question.

Keep in mind, too, what caller ID you want to present, when calling numbers in each of those countries? Is that important? Will one provider allow you to send the caller ID you want, or is that going to require a provider in each. If one (or both) of the providers allows their trunks to be registered, to a PBX outside the country, then it may be possible to have only one 3CX install (perhaps even hosted), and use an SBC, at the second, or both locations.

Again, as mentioned, it will all depend on what you require.
