Yesterday some users in our organization noticed that the SMS functionality in 3CX stopped working and that all of the previous SMS conversations were archived. (It stopped working for all users as it turns out). I did some digging and noticed that within our SIP settings, the SMS option was disabled and the security key and access key were blank. Once I re-enabled the SMS function and reset the access and security keys, our SMS started working again. I checked the activity logs and event logs and can't find anywhere that it shows this functionality was turned off. I suspect that my instance was updated however because I see the following lines in the activity log:

01/19/2023 10:04:36 AM - [CM501002]: Version: 18.0.6.897
01/19/2023 10:04:36 AM - [CM501001]: Start 3CX PhoneSystem Call Manager

I don't know what my previous version was, so I can't confirm there was an update. We are fairly new to 3CX so I am trying to learn. Is this a common issue? Is there anything else in the logs that would tell me what happened?

That's because in U5, the integration was changed. You had to remove the old integration (under Messaging) then enable it in the trunk itself for supported providers.

Keep in mind that DIDs need to be entered as E164 absolutely and that inbound messages will follow the inbound rules now.

So it was caused by a system update. I thought that the messaging setting was in a different location this time compared to the previous time I set it up. Is there an email list I can subscribe to that I can get a heads up on changes like this that will affect my instance?
Thanks.

In your portal account, under My Account, you should be able to enable newsletters, which includes these things.

Otherwise, stay up-to-date on the blog posts, they give details everytime a release is out.
