Hi All,

I've reset my new to me (used) SNOM 710 handset, and then I have tried to upgrade the firmware of my SNOM 710 using the download https://www.3cx.com/docs/phone-firmwares/ by downloading it and also by URL. And it says it can't find the file each time.

Current Firmware Version 8.7.3.26 - Trying to upgrade to 8.9.3.96

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong or what to do?

Many thanks in advance. Terri

Hello Terri, I'm afraid that you will need to upgrade the phone using an intermediary firmware version first, and then proceed to upgrading to the supported version.

This is common when the phones are running a very old firmware version.

Hi again,

I have just sorted the firmware, but now I have another question.

When I try to connect the handset, it says owned by another user. Even though I have reset the phone. How do I sort this out?

I purchased this from someone who no longer uses this phone.

Well in this document it is shown the following

Note: Some of the snom phones do not support “https” links, therefore modify the link to “http”.

Yep. Thats right.

Can you assist with the other point I raised now? When I try to set it up, it says - Error:owned_by_other_user

I have rest the phone, and bought it off of the old owner. How does this get cleared?

where do you see this? and how are you trying to configure the phone?
I access my 3cx admin console>I go to the user I want to add the phone to>I go to IP Phone>Configure a phone>Normal Phone> Select phone Model 710>Enter MAC Address>Select my Fanvil Router phone to connect through>click on Add Phone and error appears as in pic.

That MAC address may be configured in another RPS.

Could you please check that info directly with Snom since that phone belonged to another person.

Do you know how or who I contact SNOM direct? Can you advise on this?
