Hi all,

Hopefully this is the right place to post this, but we are having some issues with provisioning / connecting a Snom phone via STUN to one of our remote users.

The logs on the phone seem to indicate that the device cant download the provisioning file, giving a 403 error, but there isn't any sort of logs on the PBX or the PBX firewall that its even made an attempt to get to the system. Connecting to the provisioning URL from a computer on that network works fine and it can download the file so its not being blocked by the ISP or the network.

This was working about a week ago, but it now wont connect or reprovision - no configuration changes have been made on either side of the network. Uploading a config file from the 3CX box to the Phone manually works, but then complains it can't contact the STUN server.

Any help is appreciated!

Here we suggest using a 3CX SBC to provision any remote phones, as this is how the 3CX System has been designed to facilitate remote provisioning. Avoid using Stun, as there are too many network variables to consider.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for the reply. We are using STUN here as this is a single phone endpoint and a users home so we don't want to deploy a full SBC to the building and the D715 doesn't appear to be capable of being a router phone according to your documentation.

Is there another way we can do this without the need for a Router phone or an SBC?

Never mind on the above - I figured out there was a VPN on the users network that was masking the IP of the phone which had been blocked on 3CX - hence the 403 for the phone but not the PC. I have noted the recommendation of the SBC / Router phone and will raise it internally to review our setups.

Thanks for the help!
