Hello,

I have a new Snom D785 and have noticed, that when the phone is switched on and I missed a call I get noticed in the display and have an entry in the call history as expected.
But when the phone looses power, or gets reprovisioned, there are no entries in the call history any more. It is empty. The call histoy in the softclient shows everything.
This is very unhandy and I can't think this is expected behavior.

No Queue or IVR.. just direct calls to that extension.
Do you have any ideas how to fix that?

Snom FW 10.1.54.16 and 3CX is up to date

Thank you,
Michael

Hi @syntcom

Thank you for reporting. Does you entire call history disappear or just the missed calls? Also is your phone provisioned as a local device or remote?

Hello,

the entire call history is empty. It is a local device. Simple setup.

I've downgraded now to 10.1.29.1 original firmware without success. no change.

Thank you for the feedback. We will investigate internally to see what is causing this and we will contact Snom if necessary.

Hi @syntcom

After running a few tests on the phone's call list entries I can report the following:

We cleared all the entries and then:
  • Reboot from MC - Entries stay deleted (it's a clean shutdown and reboot so the call-list state is preserved as-is)
  • Reboot from phone menus - Entries stay deleted (it's a clean shutdown and reboot so the call-list state is preserved as-is)
  • Reboot with **## - Entries come back (it's a dirty reboot so the call list state is not preserved)

We created a few entries and then:
  • Reboot using power cable - Entries lost (it's a dirty shutdown and the call-list state was not committed to the phone storage)
  • Reprovision while registered - Entries lost

NB: By call list preserved we mean that if it contains entries, it kept them. If it was empty it remained empty

Looks like the phone is behaving correctly, except when it loses power unexpectedly or restarted forcefully. I'm a bit on the fence as to whether this should be considered a problem, as power loss can always lead to data loss. The reprovisioning causing lost entries however is a bit of a problem in this case

Hello,

thank you for your reply.
I have contacted snom and there is a feature called settings_cyclic_store_timer.
If this is not set the phone doesn't save things after a restart.
They suggested to set this to 1, which means, that the phone saves settings/lists every 1 hour.
So there is still room to loose entries within this hour, but this is a useable setup.

Kind regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,

I did notice that the problem will not always occur and certain events will trigger an autosave anyway

You can see which events trigger a save here on the following Snom Ref: http://wiki.snom.com/FAQ/How_do_snom_phones_handle_setting_changes

If you face power outages often you can consider changing that value on your phones manually, as our provisioning does not touch that value.
