Hi,

I'm fairly new to 3CX inheriting 2 PBXs with circa 80 extensions (70 + 10).

What should I be doing when a member of staff leaves?

My concern is over them possibly having the 3CX software / App on a mobile phone or personal laptop and being able to make calls over our system.

I'd like to keep the physical phone active on the existing extension number but prevent any usage by softphones. Looking at the extension's phone provisioning, I can delete the physical desk phone (which I don't want to) but can't delete the 3CX App (which I do want to).

So, what should I be doing?

Thanks.

regenerate passwords for concerned extension , or delete extension if you don't need, in extension remove email adress and mobile phone number if one was set.
Like this client can't reconnect and can't receive welcome email, if this person was able to connect to MC, of course change MC password too.

Hi,

You can delete the extension and then recreate it. This will prevent any phones, mobile clients, desktop clients and webclient credentials from logging in again. You will have to recreate it and then assign the deskphone again (if you use one)

Do not use regenerate function for this. Any soft phone that is setup with provisioning (most) will be able to update their provisioning to the new settings and re-connect.

You must delete and recreate the extension and re-add any desk phones if required.

We had this come up on a new install so we haven’t had to cross the bridge yet, but they have 45 extensions, all Grandstream 2170’s with sidecars. If someone leaves, I did not see a way to add the new extension to all of the BLF’s at once. As this company grows this becomes more of a problem.
For those with much larger systems, how does this get handled?

You can multi select and configure blf keys.

Thanks, very useful.
