Hello,
My company manages a number of PBXs for different clients and over the last week or so we received reports of the static/choppy/underwater sound for incoming calls. We tackled a number of troubleshooting items, summary:
- Reboot of all PBXs
- Reboot of all networking equipment
- Reboot of all ISP networking equipment
- Reboot of proxy servers setup for relay
- Rebuild of all physical phone endpoint templates
- Reprovision of all devices
All with no luck in resolving the issue. Today we discovered that softphones were having a problem as well, which was previously thought only physical phones were the problem. Running packet captures on a call, there was nothing apparent dropping or blocking firewall ports. Listening to the call recording for that single call, from one managed PBX to another managed PBX, shows the external caller as choppy but the internal caller is fine for each recording pulled from its respective PBX. In other words, two recordings, of the same call, show issues with the opposite caller depending on which one you listen to.
I'm running short on places to continue troubleshooting, since this is happening on 5 different PBX/networks, with 2 different internet carriers, in four different cities between them. Any suggestions on where next to focus efforts?
