Hello,

Is there a way to stop recording outgoing external calls but keep recording the incoming external calls for all users?

Thank you in advance,

This is not something that can be achieved, you can either set to record all calls or to record only external calls (of which internal calls will not be recorded), but with this options, all external calls will be recorded, which include all outgoing as well as incoming external calls.

I encourage you to take a look at our 3CX Recording Manager tool. We have a setting to only record inbound external calls.

Actually, if he uses a call queue for inbound and set that for recording, and then disable it for everyone. Only incoming calls should get recorded.

Am I right?

This works great for us!

Thank you,

I spoke too soon, that didn't work.

The call doesn't get recorded? Make sure the queue is set to "opt out" and not "opt in".

The option in the queues will give the caller the option opt-in or out of being recorded. You still have to set the recording options on the extension level. This would mean that if the extension is set to record all calls it will do just that or only external calls it will record both incoming and outgoing calls to and from the extension that makes or receives outbound calls.

I have it set to "Allow caller to opt-out of being recorded"

So the extension settings takes precedence over the queue setting even if the call comes in through the queue?

Yes, that's what happened in my case.

Back to square one...

The extension is where the call recording will take place, not the queue. There is no recording option for only queue calls. The option in the queue only gives the caller the ability to opt in or out of being recorded.

For example, Ext100 has been set to record only external calls. The queue option is enabled and prompt recorded
to offer the option to the caller to opt-out of recording the call. During the prompt, the user presses 3, on the dial pad (opting out of being recorded) the call is taken on ext100, from the queue, the call is not recorded.

Ext100 then makes an outbound call the call will be recorded.

I wish 3CX will implement the option to record Queue Calls. This is possible in FreePBX for example.
