STUN Server Problem

Greetings.

My 3CX phone system was working fine for over a year until this morning when I noticed that all the IP Phones were trying to connect to the STUN Server when I was dialing. At this time, most of the calls are not connecting and if they connect - I am not geting any voice/audio. Most of my IP Phones are external phones, located outside my home network. I checked and tested the firewall and it failed (this is the first time it failed). Please note I did not make any changes to my router nor to the 3CX system. I am getting the following error:

I even directly connected the 3CX computer to internet and still the same error. I tried using different STUN servers: stunserver.org, stun.fwd.org, stun.voipbuster.com - without any success.

I assume you attempted to reboot the machine to see if that fixed it?

I would verify connectivity from the 3CX box, if that was ok then I would do a backup and restore.

I restarted the computer couple times without any success. Quick question for you - should I reinstall 3CX and than do the restore? Or just backup and restore?

FYI : I ran into the exact same problem and timing. Try stun.justvoip.com It worked just nice for me.

ps. stun.3cx.com just points at stun.counterpath.com

I tried stun.justvoip.com and tested the firewall. It passed once and 2nd time it failed. I tested again and it passed, but seconds later it failed. Any advice? Thank you in advance for the help.

i am also having same problem. couldn't figure out. firewall test fails and gives error (15) my 3cx was running smoothly from long time today first time i saw this problem

Hello Girish.

Which version are you using? I am using v6. Could it be that I might have to upgrade? Or could it be the 3CX STUN server? I backed up and restored the system and still same problem.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but as I can see from your log the system is having an error with winsock, and if you tried another stun server, I should suggest that you reset your winsock.

Windows Vista / 2008
1. Run the following command (in cmd box preferably): netsh winsock reset
2. Reboot the machine

Windows XP:
1. Remove the following register keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2
2. Reboot the machine (you'll get some errors from firewalls etc, it's normal):
3. Reinstall TCP/IP: Start => configuration screen => network connections => Right click your LAN device, choose properties.
Click install, click protocol, click "Have Disk", typ the following directory: c:\windows\inf and choose Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Reboot the machine again (all errors (if you got some before) are now gone)
That's it.

I had some 10054 errors fixed using this.
Let me know if it worked!

i also using version 6. from today phones connected outside office started getting problems and when i checked i got the same error which is mentioned above( firewall test result.).

Dear All

Any one got the solution for this problem? i am still having this problem. now i am going to install 7.1 and test with different internet connection and firewall. will let u know the result in few hours. any way i feel it is not going to solve the problem. all of us din't had problem and suddenly it started for all of us together that means it is nothing to do with local setting. it may be a global problem with stun server?

Dear all

It seems that stun.3cx.com is having some problem stun2.3cx.com also working fine. firewall check error comes only with stun.3cx.com stun2.3cx.com is working fine. my problem is some of my phones are far away and there stun.3cx.com is configured that phones are not working. if some one know when this stun.3cx.com will come up or it will not work no more?

i installed 7.1 also there also same problem stun.3cx.com is not working and stun2.3cx.com is passing firewall check

Hello All

Here is the list of stun servers we now use. We mapped our domain
name to there ip address so if one goes down the system will switch
to the other. Each stun server must have two ip's so in our case our
two stun servers have a total of four ips.

"just added they have four ip's for one server" :shock:

For now we have not had any problems with our setup & things have been
up/running for two years. We also check from time to time to see if there
are other stun servers out there & we just add them to the mix. Also thanks
for the new stun server, I did not know about that one at all stun.justvoip.com
