TAPI only works with soft phones?

Hi,

I tried out TAPI today and it worked fine ... seams like I need the Assistant installed and the Soft Phone? Weird that I need both.

Well my question is - if I doen't install the soft phone, will TAPI work with my Snom M9 and other "real" VOIP phones?

Hi,
Yes Tapi will work even if you do not install the 3cxphone.
For tapi to work you'll need to install CRM always.

When you say CRM is that the same as Assistant?

If I have Assistant + 3cxphone open, my TAPI test in .Net works fine, but if I close 3cxphone, I get an "TAPI outgoing call" event, but the call is never made ... it's not dialing.

Well isn't it expected that if you close / turn off your VoIP Phone that you will not receive a call? :mrgreen:
If you want to receive your Tapi calls on a Hardware phone, simply replace the VoIP Phone with a Hardware Phone.

Go to your Assistant > File > Preferences > Dialing > Call Via PBX
Then set up your assistant to have the same Extension number as one of your Hardware phones.
