Hi,

Does anyone actually have a 3CX Hosted system using a Telstra Business SIP? (ie no NTU)

I have seen this post: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/telstra-business-sip.70228/#post-312241 but this appears to still use the NTU on-prem

I have done the 6+ long frustrating hours going through the Telstra Circus of being passed from department to department, being hung up on, transferred to black holes ... etc etc.

My question to Telstra was ...

1) Can I just use the "Northbound Credentials" (Telstra Terminology) of the One425 to set up the 3CX Telstra Business SIP connection and therefore remove the One425 from the environment.

2) Can they confirm the IP Address's of the Telstra SBC and ports that the Telstra Business SIP Trunk requires

https://www.telstra.com.au/content/...a Business SIP Detailed Integration Guide.pdf
Page 11 - shows the following:

Internet-facing POP’s & Encrypted
POP 1. -> 192.148.164.1
POP 2 -> 192.148.164.17

Both can be pinged by a Google Hosted 3CX system ....

3) Where in the Business SIP Portal do I find the following for the 3CX Telstra Business SIP Trunk:

Authentication ID (aka SIP User ID)
Authentication Password

4) And does this Trunk type also need the "3 Way Authentication Password"?

After getting through to the "commissioning team" in Telstra Business SIP to run through what I was trying to achieve .. they advised me that the above IP Address's are wrong and they should be 192.148.164.7 & 192.148.164.23. But those two CANNOT be pinged by the Google Hosted 3CX system.

He then told me that TELSTRA has not "CERTIFIED" and therefore "DOES NOT SUPPORT" the 3CX phone system with Telstra Business SIP ... and closed my call.

Unfortunately both of my potential 3CX customers are in the early stage of their Telstra Contracts - and as Telstra has been cutting off ISDN services their traditional PABX partner sold them the One425 to bridge between SIP & ISDN ..... to a very old phone system.

I did request a Test account from Telstra to check if I could get the SIP Trunk authenticated .... which they said was NOT possible

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated ... but I am at the point this is getting way to hard and I do not want to take these customers down the road of an "UNSUPPORTED" solution.

Thanks
Aaron

Hello @AaronLaz

3CX will be soon supported for Telstra Business SIP as we passed all tests and we have also submitted the necessary paperwork so we are waiting for it to be processed.

Regarding your question, all the testing we did was with a NTU local to the PBX and we did not test the service without an NTU which i believe it cannot be done. The NTU is necessary for the Business SIP service to work.
Technically however it is possible to have a PBX in the cloud and run the Telstra Business SIP trunk as you can have the NTU locally to the office and connect the office and the cloud instance using a VPN.

Thanks R4+Z & YiannisH for the confirmation on what is and isn't possible.

Will be good news when 3CX is supported as an IP Phone System in the NTU configuration.

And good suggestion regarding the VPN.

Cheers
Aaron
