Curious question for partners - do you test a restore of your backups of 3CX or do you trust they are complete?
We had a close call over the weekend with a server going almost entirely unresponsive. Discovered it had CPU and memory maxed out. Couldn’t get updates to take from the console. Later I discovered there was a memory leak that was patched. I ended up updating the system from the Linux side and all is good. I attempted to restore a backup and discovered the license key was not a match.
Now, the dashboard shows the correct key, when you click on it - that page also shows the correct key, my partner portal shows the correct key. Now support wants me to do this whole process of installing a local instance, manually setting the key, backing that up then restoring it to the production system all to correct this problem that’s not even really our problem.
It got me wondering though, do I need to have someone go through our 50+ systems we manage to dig into the backups to confirm the key is accurate? What do other partners do?
I’m not happy about this, I expect the process to take 1-2 hours and cause downtime for my end user to correct their XML file. I’m also not super happy about paying someone to extract each backup we have and confirm the license key matches and if it doesn’t, schedule this process for more systems.
