Sorry Archie, its me typing in haste, I did mean INVITE.

Yes attended transfer works fine.

archie: I'm sure that you're completely right about VoipStunt and their non-compliance to the standards. It should also be said that they will not provide any support on SIP connections to their service (I think I read that on their site). Sadly, this means that I'll have to stick with 3.1 for the time being, so I can make cheap international calls from my mobile via my home 3CX setup. Is there a "PBX delivers audio" option in 5.1, and would this be of any help? I mean, would this in effect be sending the SDP with the INVITE to VoipStunt?

Once again, let me know in case you want my WireShark tcp dumps zipped so you can review them in full detail.

Hello.
Awesome product, by the way.

So, I know NOTHING about VOIP or SIP. Just wanted to make that clear up front. I have a similar issue to this thread. I'm trying to use a Vonage Softphone Account. If I set up the PBX to forward all incoming calls, it works. What I can't get to work is this:

Outside Call > DR > Option 2 (Tx to extension 101) > Forwarding Rule (Forward to outside #)

Nor does this work:

Internal call to DR > Option 2 (Tx to extension 101) > Forwarding Rule (Forward to outside #)

Here's my log:

After reading this, and knowing that Vonage is not 'supported', I assume this is my issue as well. However, I have version (FREE) 7.0.4744.0, and adding ForwardingRules opens an error message in a new browser window, but is still seems to add the rule. Here's the stack trace:

Code:

Am I stuck here? Can Vonage work? I've tried the settings under Edit VOIP Provider > Advanced > Capabilities

If Vonage won't work, what's a good option for this scenario: one external phone number > 3cx > extensions that route to other external numbers?

Thanks a million!

Kevin

Hi Kevin, if you have any outbound rules set to allow specific extensions to call out, you may like to try putting the DR virtual number in the outbound rule to allow it to call out.

Phil

Phil,

My DR extension is 800 and my outbound rule allows "Calls from extension(s)" = 100-999

I don't use prefixes, though I've tried it with and without with no luck.

Do you have reason to believe this should work with Vonage?

Kevin

Another point...

Vonage states that to do a Call Transfer of an active call, you would press 'Flash' on the phone, then dial '#90' then the number. How do I reproduce the 'Flash'? I've tried Prepending the #90 in my outbound rule that handles the ForwardingRule, but still getting the 488 Error. Also, for me (FREE version) verbose logging doesn't work. Any setting other than Medium resets back to medium.

After a little bit more digging, I found this post:
Forward to outside number from Digital assistant

Instead of using a keypress in the the DR to forward to an Unregistered extension and then use the extension to forward, I have the DR call a Ring Group that does the Forward to Outside Number if no answer. This works!

Again, what an awesome piece of software.

Kevin

Hi Kevin, I was thinking you were already calling an unregistered enxtension, sorry about that.

Your now doing what I do. My suggetion was becsue I know some have tried the forward from DR but have had outbound rules which did not include the DR ext number so the calls didnt go out.

Phil

As a follow on to this post. I want to do the same thing here but need to have the ring group forward to more than one external number. Is this possible?

Yes it is

Create a ring group (ring all or hunt)

Create a forward all rule on the extensions that are members of the ring group to forward to an external number (outbound rule+external number)

Then go to Global options tab in General and select the checkbox - "Allow forwarding to external numbers in ring groups"

Remember the gateway has to be configured correctly - By this I mean that the first thing you have to do is Disable Early media. Otherwise if the first members external number is targeted and he does not answer, the next member will not be targeted (not even the destination no answer forwarding option will be targeted). if you disable early media then it will work with no problems.

Thanks

Disable early media? Where is this option?

This option is in the gateway you are using. Remember that this feature depends nearly entirely on the gateway / voip provider you are using.

If early media is on the transfer will still be made, however the next member will not be targeted because from the gateways point of view, the call has been answered (even though the destination is still ringing) - it has been answered because of early media and not because the caller Picked up the phone.

What means are you using to make the outbound call? (gateway make/model or provider?)

I'm using a Vonage soft phone. I'm heading in a different direction though, I just ordered lines with BroadVox and going to port my numbers over. Then I can go direct into 3CX with a supported vendor.

Yes I think Broadvox has this option in the web interface. It is called Enable or disable announcements. You will need to check this because honestly I forgot. Are you sure that Vonage does not have this option? Vonage are good as well.

I couldn't find this option anywhere. Vonage has their stuff locked down pretty tight. I saw lots of folks with posts on trying to get the Vonage password for their SIP lines so they can go directly into a 3cx or other VOIP system. No one has figured out how to uncover this info since its encrypted.

So BroadVox is what I'm trying and I have my fingers crossed that all goes well.

I just contacted Vonage for the password and they gave it to me. I have been connected via Vonage for over a year now.

Hi all, sorry to but in, but earlier in the topic the "...(outbound rule+external number)..." was discussed, could you give a simple basic example of this (for us newbies) please using say ... an out bound rule called 'MyRule' which has a Prefix of say '9' and you are trying to call an external local number for example '12345'. The reason I ask, is because I tried this myself, and after the call has not been answered, it trys to forward the call to an external number, but just gives an enchaged tone.

Thanks in advance,
Brendon.

I'm sure I have a much simpler setup that most of you. But I was having the same problem and was able to get it working using free version 7.1. In my Outbound Rule I had specified to apply the rule to calls coming from a specific extension. I just removed the extension and left the field blank. Now the DR will pickup my incoming calls and forward to my mobile phone. Hope this helps some of you.
