Hi guys,

I know the default Twilio sip template under worldwide uses IP based authentication, but was wondering if using the register/account based authentication described in this topic is alright now?: https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/twilio-elastic-sip-trunk-setup.73479/

I have setup working register/account based authentication with Twilio using that tutorial above so I was wondering why previous threads/comments mention it as an unsupported method?:

I read a post describing how with IP based authentication, a random address change can break a 3cx install so register/account based is preferred way of authentication for dealing with such eventualities, right?

Thanks for any clarification and sorry if I'm misunderstanding anything.

Hello @bibbybabs

IP based is still the supported method for Twilio SIP trunks. This is what we tested and this is what the template is based upon. You can use whatever method you like we just won't provide support for it in case something goes wrong.
Also as an alternative for Twilio you can create a normal trunk and also create a set of credentials for the trunk. Add the credentials in your trunk but leave as IP based. Don't limit your trunk with a IP, instead use the credential method. This way your outbound calls will still be authenticated by Twilio and be secure.
