I have two Yealink t46s phones with the same extension. When i do an "All page", only one phone gets the page. I have a ring group setup with that phone extension included.

I have replicated the issue by setting up the same setup on my desk. Only one phone gets the page. Is this normal? Is there a setting to change where I can get both phones to ring? Thank you for your help.

Hello,

Can you describe in detail what you mean by "all page"?

Tell us the steps so we can replicate it here.

I am paging all the phones by dialing a number which calls the ring group. The phone beeps, I pick up the phone and talk directly on the phone which sends audio to all phones in the ring group using their speaker on the phone.

Just to confirm: Did you create a paging group for example, using Ring Strategy "Paging" and then included your extension in the Group Members which has 2x Yealink T46S phones attached?

Correct. the ext I added is 3354. I have two T46s phones with the same extension. One sits at the persons desk and the other in the lab where that same person runs back and forth to.

Ok in this case, the Paging strategy will ring all the endpoints of your extension.

But because paging means the phones auto-answer the call, effectively what happens is:

1. You extension receives a call
2. All your phones receive the call
3. One of your phones manages to answer before the others
4. The others stop ringing because the call was answered elsewhere

If you want to confirm this, simply unplug one of the two, and you will see that the other one will answer the call ;)

That is correct. As soon as I unplug one of the "same exts" the other answers. So this is the normal function correct? There is no way to make both work?

Yes this is perfectly normal and expected.

We also offer multicast paging (which would do what you want), but this does not work for hosted systems, it only works when the PBX is on the same local network as the phones

Good to know! Thank you for your help, much appreciated! Case closed. :)
