Hello All, I'm pretty new to 3CX and just getting it set up,

I've registered an SMS-compatible number with Wavix. I've set up sender IDs and the DID is showing "Inbound SMS: Supported".

I've set up 3cx, Created a trunk for this number, enabled SMS and entered my Wavix API Key. I've added this trunk to a Ring queue and assigned a user to it.

Calling this number successfully routes to the user. If I log in as this user and go to chat, I can create a new SMS chat and send an SMS successfully. The SMS shows up as being from the numerical sender ID as expected.

However: When I send an SMS to this number, I can view the SMS in the Wavix SMS logs. I never see this SMS in 3CX. If I reply to the SMS chat sent from 3CX, the SMS also does not show up in 3CX anywhere. This reply message does show in the Wavix Logs.

Am I missing something obvious? Is there anything I should be checking?

To understand the issue, is that the SMS messages can be sent from 3cx but not received to the user's extension, correct?

Which destination has been set for the Wavix trunk to deliver the SMS and calls?

Check under the Voice &chat section under the Route to section.

I have just been through and re-tested this. I have checked each of the following configurations:
  • Routed to a Ring Group (my preferred option)
  • Routed directly to a user
  • Routed to a digital receptionist
    • Forward SMS to the Ring group
    • Forward SMS to the user
All of these options continue to allow SMS to be sent, but *not* received anywhere (visible to me) in 3cx.

I have left the trunk configured to Route to a Ring Group at this time.

Many thanks for any further assistance offered.

Thanks for the reply. Can you please try the following as a test?

Set the destination for calls and SMS to go to your extension, then from the chat section of your extensions webclient, set all SMS messages to 'Dealt with.'

Send an SMS message to your mobile from your 3cx extension and reply once received. Then check the Wavix portal logs for the message logs and check for any errors.

Hello Charles,

I've followed the steps given above (please see screenshots for evidence). I am not seeing the response within the 3cx chat webclient.

I do not see more detailed logs within Wavix. If I am confident the configuration is correct I will raise a ticket with Wavix.

Hello @Charles_3CX , thankyou for your help.

While digging into this more I found the following section on the https://app.wavix.com/profile/account page which allowed me to change the default SMS endpoint. I do not see this mentioned anywhere on the 3cx documentation, so it may be worth a review if others are confused in the future.

I updated the default SMS endpoint with the one given in my "Voice & chat" -> "Trunk" -> "SMS" settings and inbound SMS is working.

Thankyou for your help and patience with this. It gave me confidence I was moving in the correct direction.
