Hi, i`m new to 3cx and i am currently trialing the free version. I have successfully configured/provisioned 3 Yealink phones ( T54W, T57W and T58W). If i leave them on the LAN everything works fine, but the moment i switch them to the FQDN they stop working. Mostly they wont connect at all, but sometimes only one of the 3 connects working perfectly fine (as in voice both ways, directory works fine, etc...) except for the BLF presence.

The calls work fine from the mobile app or from the browser.
The NAT`ing is configured as per the online instructions, i even configured a DMZ to make sure NAT is not the problem.
I have deleted users, recreated them, restarted phones the system/router, updated system and phones ... you name it...
When i look at the pcap files on the phone i see the registration is being sent, but noting comes back. When i check the pcap on 3cx i see the registration request, 3cx sends back a 407 and that's it.

It looks like there is a system setting preventing a successful registration over the internet. Is this a limitation with the FREE version?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wrong forum... You dont need any NAT. Did you configured the phones as routerphones or did you use any SBC?

thank you for getting back...

as soon as i noticed the thread it in the wrong category i tried to delete it or move it, but i was unable to... when i first raised the ticket the phones were simply connected via the LAN option and i was only switching the sip server from LAN to WAN (fqdn)... I now installed the SBC, which is showing green, re-provisioned the phones and got them to connect and display the correct presence.

under users the phones are now displaying "Normal Phone" instead of "Local Phone". Unfortunately i am unable to make or receive any calls now... even calls to voicemail result in an engaged tone. The mobile app or the browser works fine.

I also tried to enable/disable PBX delivers audio, but it did nothing...

Can you call internal?

short answer no.

when i ring from this extension i get a very brief ringing tone, followed by a hangup as soon as the call gets answered. This goes for both internal/external or the voicemail. When i ring this extension i get the voicemail straight away.

The PCAP from the phone shows a 200 OK (INVITE) followed by a ACK, BYE

This phone is currently tested offsite. The other 2 are left on site (where the system is local to) and they work fine. All phones are now connecting to the FQDN.

i just brought the phone back to the office (T58W) and its doing the exact same thing... I swapped the config between the T58W and T57W and the user was now behaving exactly the same on the other phone too (which was previously working fine, thus this must be a user problem). I am unable to find any difference in the user configuration...

Where is your pbx installed? The Phone offsite is configured as routerphone or the sbc is there where the phone is?

i just deleted and recreated the user. this got it working... i will take it offsite again to make sure it still works...

the pbx is installed in the office, same as the SBC. The phone offsite is configured as a normal phone connecting to the SBC. It may be a bug i encountered as i am using the latest alpha version.

thank you for helping so far...

That doesnt make sence at all.... The phone need to be a routerphone OR you need an sbc there where the phone is not where the pbx is.

i must admit i have never heard of a router phone. When i configure the phone, i add the MAC and select the option to add it as a SBC/Router Phone. Is there anything else i need to to, in order to have the phone configured as a router phone?

Thats correct, you only need to check if the phone is on the correct firmware. What does the firewallcheck say?

firewall is ok...

when i added the phone this time i ticked connect directly which added it as a router phone. I think that will get it working... i see the logic in this, but all other phones or servers i ever configured never needed a router phone or local sbc. Tbh i think much better as there will be no need for NAT...

Thank you again

Tbh i think this quite smart, but the router phone/sbc needs to be online all time

3CX no longer supports their STUN connection method in v20. A custom template is required, in addition to the port forwarding etc. A router phone or SBC will be much more stable, and router phones are portable as long as no other phones connect through it.
