Before I start, thank you in advance for any insight to nudge me in the right direction for fixing this, I'm sure I'm not far off

We have a requirement for a WiFi handset, this Unidata WPU-7800 seems to be a good choice, reasonably quality and price. There is mention of this phone on the forum boards of people successfully using them. Because it can't be autoprovisioned by 3CX I'm having to try to configure it manually. I have configured it with it's built-in web interface as well as on 3CX. The phone will receive calls fine from other internal extensions but trying to make calls fails both internally and externally. I notice in the logs (please see below) that the call is rejected "caller is unknown" but I can't quite figure out the bit I'm not getting! Any info greatly appreciated.

When dialling from the Unidata, I try 40 and SEND key and get a message "Unassigned address" on the handset, this doesn't appear to try to make a call.

When I try 40# and SEND key the handset reports "Connection failed" and the server log fills up with the information below. The deskphone is extension 40, the WiFi handset is 54. I've replaced our domain name with "companyname" to save me blushes :P

The SIP settings of the phone are configured as follows:

I seem to have made some progress. The phone can now make outgoing calls, but only to numbers that are 3 digits or longer, which essentially means external calls only.

Our 3CX setup is using 2 digit extension numbers, the phone reports "Unassigned Address" when I try these.

If I call 40# I get "Connection Failed"

If I call *777 (echo test) this works fine.

I know someone out there knows the answer! :)

This sounds like a dialing rule issue.

Access the phone's built in WEB interface. Make sure the dial rule is set to accept * (everything). By default, some phones are set to accept only 3 or more numbers.

Please be so kind as to sned me the provisoning template you used for the Unidata WPU-7800.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

I'm not certain if you are still getting the log (above), that you posted earlier. When using an internal extension, you should be using the IP of the server, not a name. When dealing with an external extension, you can use a URL, but, must put that in the Domain Name setting in the PBX. This is quite common when your pubic IP is dynamic, and you use a service such as DynDNS.
