My Fellow 3CXrs, I have a problem...

Long story short, our 3CX configuration for a client with just sub 1000 extensions have had their setup messed up a bit. Multiple users have the same RTP and SIP ports specified for their extensions and this turned out to create some issues with voice quality.

I would like to rectify this and some other formatting issues, and the easiest way I thought might be possible, would be to correct all the mistakes in excel and import CSV. I have since found a few issues..

1. Existing extensions cannot be overwritten.
2. RPT and SIP Port information cannot be imported (or I might not be doing this correctly).
3. MAC address info cannot be imported (or.. you know.. I might be the one not doing this correctly.

One positive thing I noticed, was that if I delete an extension, and import it using my CSV template, the provisioning URL stays the same, so with some manual input I can get a phone up and running again in only a few minutes. Problem is, I need to fix a few hundred extensions, and manually assigning MAC addresses and Port details to each extension would take weeks to complete (I have a crazy schedule).

Question:

Is it possible to import MAC, RTP and SIP info using a CSV file? (Please provide me with a link to a template if it is possible - I tried finding the template myself but failed).

Keeping my fingers crossed for some positive feedback! Thanks in advance!

Are extensions - physical handsets on the same network as the 3cx server or setup as SBC or the nightmare stun ?

To get the latest template to import, export one of your extensions.

Issues I can see - if you delete the extension all voicemail settings are deleted, same applied to chat - not sure what happens if you have voice recording enabled.

Hi there Saqqara,

To answer your first question, "Nightmare STUN" would be the answer...

I have looked at the latest template (https://downloads-global.3cx.com/downloads/misc/ImportExtensionTemplateV16.csv) and this does not include any Port entries.. which is the biggest issue I'm facing at the moment.

I have updated the "PhoneSettings" entries manually and tried importing this, but it's simply not working. The extension might be created, but it will have Port info generated automatically, which kind of solves the issue, but we have a range of Port numbers specified, so although a free port is assigned to each extension, it's not in line with what we need for this specific client.

We have voicemail disabled for most extensions and we're not really bothered about the chat feature at the moment, so that doesn't really matter. The few extensions that I do need voicemail to be enabled for can easily be configured manually.

Edit: I have reviewed some advanced options that may have been ignored by the person who set the system up initially. So, I might in fact be able to use the template to fix these issues after-all.

If the phones are setup as stun, each phone requires different sip and rtp ports along with firewall configuration

To make your life easy, if the phones support it install one or more sbc servers at the phone location - https://www.3cx.com/docs/3cx-tunnel-session-border-controller/ . None of the sip / rtp ports , firewall config - just allow https , 3cx tunnel port and ntp ports out

Brilliant! I'll give this a go. Thank you so much!
