Unprovision a phone

I have a phone which is already provisioned for one extension. I want to remove it from that extension and move it to a new one. Is there a smooth way to do this or do I need to delete the extension and reset the phone?

if you want to keep the settings for the extension, then on the 3cx system go into the extension settings \phone provisioning and copy out the current mac address, then change the mac address for the phone to a factitious one.

Create your new extension, and then paste the correct mac address into it. reboot the phone and it should now pull down the new extension information.

Otherwise you will need to delete the old extension
