anyone know the command to update 3CX from the shell / SSH / command line in Debian?

We have a 3CX template that we just copy every time we need a new instance, so this saves setting up Debian every time we need a new client set up on our virtual machine. But we made the template over a year ago, so it now takes ages to update everything, so I thought I'd update the template to save a bit of time in the future.

The fact that you are asking this question scares me and it's not really a 3CX question. So you just said it takes ages to update everything to it 'appears' you know how to update. Without knowing exactly what you mean by 'template' I assume you just mean a Debian VM that you clone. So if you want a current 'template' you can either do the same update process you allude to taking ages on your 'template' or you can do the same thing you did when you created the original template but use a current installation source.

Sorry I didn't explain fully. Yes I currently just clone a debian VM with 3cx on it, run the clean up command and then set it up and then use the Web gui to do updates, but this one I did today had 5 service packs to get through and it required me sitting there waiting for each one to finish before moving on to the next one.

Also, setting up the outbound dialling rules is time consuming, is there a way to do this in batch? It's always the same for every instance we set up. There doesn't seem to be a way through the Web gui, but how about through the debian command line?

So to bring 3CX update to date you would just fire up that base VM image and then uninstall and reinstall 3CX which will put the currently available version on it. Or do your step upgrades and then save it again

Updatined outbound rules from the command line would involve direct database access which is doable but 3CX frowns upon tinkering with the database directly.

Okay great, thanks @cobaltit

I'll look up the commands for uninstalling and reinstalling 3cx, I did see it somewhere on an official 3cx tutorial.

Any ideas on the outbound dialling rules?

The second sentence was with regards to adding outbound rules from the command line.

Nice... I hadn't seen that document before. Perhaps we can get a date on it like other articles so we know when it was created, last updated, etc.
