If I restore to the previous days backup, is there a way I can restore my recordings, voicemail, and texts from the backup that was taken after the update?

I did not delete the hosted machine that died. I guess it might also be possible to copy the files from it. But I do not know what to copy / restore.

Hosted on lightsail

Hi @pbomboy,

Can you provide me with a bit more background as to what happened, so I can best advise?

The update that failed, was it a v16 - v18 upgrade or just an update such as the v18U1 to v18U2 update? When it failed what happened to the instance?

Did you install a new PBX fresh afterwards without using the backup?

Can you provide more context about the events?

Update from 18.0.2.307 to 18.0.2.314 happened last light at 1030pm. My backup ran at midnight. When I arrived this morning all my devices had a registration failure, and the URL was not reachable. I logged onto lightsail and rebooted the instance. No help. I shut it down and restarted. No help.

I did a PBX refresh back to 18.0.2.307 to a new instance. I still have the previous instance that would contain all the files I am looking for. I also have the midnight backup file. So essentially we are now working on a system that only has recordings, voicemail, and text messages as they were a day ago at midnight. I have lost a day.

What I am trying to figure out is how to restore the last days recordings, etc.

Thanks

Hi @pbomboy,

If you're trying to merge backups, that won't work.

What I believe should have happened is that you spun up the new machine using the backup you had.

Was the instance responsive after the update? I assume so because the update ran at 22:30 but you have a midnight backup, assuming that the failed update didn't cause the machine to bomb. If you reinstall using the backup from Midnight, you'll lose the info from today but that is better than not having any info prior to today.

I tried to restore the midnight backup that contained the new release. It failed to load.

Looking at the backup I can see folders for voicemail, recordings, and chat files. Is there a way I can upload this data to the actual lightsail hosted harddrive?

Hi @pbomboy,

Do you have SSH access to the machine that is down? If so, can you check if the 3CX Services are running? Use the command:

Code:
sudo service 3* status

If you see any status no running, that may be a culprit. In any event, I would suggest restarting all of the services using the following command:

Code:
sudo 3CXStopServices && sudo 3CXStartServices

While you're at it, also ensure that the nginx service is started. Check that the service is running, using the command:

Code:
sudo service nginx status

Give that 5 minutes and try to log in, are you able to access your Management Console?
