Nasty surprise hit me this week. I had updated our head office from v15.5 to v16 on the weekend. 10 AM Monday I was called into an executive meeting of a dozen senior people (including my vp) to be told their conference code was invalid. Fortunately, there was only one remote caller and I simply dialed them directly to get their conference underway.

Returned to my office to discover the update process had wiped all pre-arranged conferences and reset the "Conference - Audio only" meeting email template back to default text. This affected numerous executive, legal and audit meetings; all of which had to be re-created and re-issued to staff. It wiped the 3CX conference info, but did not remove the 3CX Generated Outlook meeting info, so everyone had conference codes that no longer worked.

I had done a full backup prior to the update and restored it after the 3CX uninstall - reinstall, but the conference info is not saved in backups. I've done another site update since then and confirmed that, but at least this time I was prepared and was able to recreate their meetings before users got onto the system.

This data should be included in the backup!

i've got a big surprise to have all my backup erased since my update to v16 ,i didn't check restore wiped my existing backup task and input a new with default settings to one rotation file a day , so my six weeks rotation file disapear in one V16 single backup.
Well done !!!

Prior to removing the old version of the program, I changed my call recordings folder to a different name and created an empty folder with the old name. Then after the new version was installed, I mapped it to the location with the recordings.

I also took two full backups and moved them into a directory not controlled by 3CX. My backups were not deleted by the fresh v16 install, but I was expecting it.

I also saved my custom email templates to a text file before the second install.

Last, I snapshotted the VM before doing the uninstall in case I needed to roll back. If anyone else has any tips I'm glad to hear them as I have three more v16 updates to do.

@DrainBamaged How did you see the existing conferences made by your users to know to recreate them?

Outlook Meeting requests. We searched for "You are invited to attend..." subject lines in the P.A.'s Outlook Calendar for legal and exec teams then re-did them manually. The audit committee only had one.

It's an easy process once you know there's an issue. It's the initial rake handle to the face moment where you first see the issue that's problematic.

This has been resolved in V16 Update 2 Beta

That was a good idea. Still would be a lot of work though depending on the install size.
