Unsupported Upgrade custom installed Debian9 to V18

Hi.
We installed 3CX on Debian9 in a Proxmox environment. I was looking at the opportunity to upgrade our installation to V18, unfortunately I cannot find guidance on how to do that, I only find installation instructions based on the new custom prepared Debian ISO.

I tried doing a dist-upgrade from Debian 9 do 10 but during that apt wanted to remove 3cx and postgres as well, given that I didn't have much time at the moment I rolled back to V16.

Does anyone have experience on upgrading a self installed system?

I forgot to say that I tried to upgrade from 3CX UI but it didn't go well. In /tmp/UPGRADE_FAILED the last message I found was a complaint about the presence of the Zabbix repository. In the processes I found a probably stuck apt-get update. The UPGRADE.log file was just about updating.

we cannot tell you how and if the update will work on this untested (and therefore unsupported) platform.
If you have to keep it, take a backup of the current install, spin a new VM using the v18 ISO up and restore the backup...

Thanks. Unfortunately the virtualization environment I'm using doesn't allow me to upload a custom ISO, I need to use the ones available from the provider. So if I have to install from scratch I still need to start from a Debian 10 standard ISO.

Are you able to install Deb 10 without the gui?

then install 3CX this way, though 3CX Support will tell you it's not supported.

This makes no sense. Proxmox is a open-source software. It does allow to choose custom ISOs. You probably just need to find how or ask a partner to help you.

I have an installation on azure done by the 3cx portal and with a 3 year free license. Do I have the right to upgrade from v16 to v18? If yes, do I have to do some procedure, such as asking them to update my license?

As this seems kind of unrelated to what the OP was asking about, it would be better to create a new thread.

This aside though, if in your 3CX Management Console you still have valid subscription/maintenance, then yes, you can upgrade to V18.

Also if you have deployed the initial installation from PBX Expeess, or Deployment Wizard as it's called now, there should be no problem upgrading the OS as well.

All these options should be available to you inside your Management Console --> Dashboard --> Updates

We have the 3CX PBX on Contabo (based on Proxmox). They don't allow to choose freely what you can install

I must correct myself, Contabo allows loading custom ISO (for a 25€ charge)
