Finally decided to upgrade to V15.
Had no problems installing the upgrade and restoring from backup.

When I opened the Management Console on V15 I was surprised to see that all of my phones that had a custom template were in red mentioning the custom template. I have over 500 'hard' phones and most of them are provisioned with a custom template. Most of the phones are Yealink T32's.

When I did my backup of V14 I did a complete backup of Voicemails, Recordings, Call History Records, Phone Provisioning and Firmware files.

What am I doing wrong here?

V14 is currently on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. All the latest updates and .net.

I had to roll back to V14.

There has been a ton of conversations about the latest release of 3CX flagging any phones with custom templates. You haven't done anything wrong... that's just the way 3CX warns that you are using a custom template. Even if your template is 100% correct, it is still going to flag the phone with a warning. Be sure to get your phones on the supported firmware too.

A quick search , would have told you this is the default in V15.5 - custom templates are displayed in red

What changes are you doing to the template ?, as some can now be set within the management console

Not sure why you had to roll back. Was something not actually working or was it just because of the message about custom templates. I mean you seem to know you had custom templates so that message itself shouldn't have been that suprising. I'd recommend doing the upgrade again and just confirming everything works as expected.

Hello @RussRiopelle

As mentioned above this is the default behaviour of V15.5. The management console will report the fact that you are using custom templates and if you are not on the supported firmware.
Check the provisioning options under phones and make sure that the changes you have made in templates cannot be done using the default templates in V15.5 as many options were added. You will need to select the default template to see all available options.
Also if you did not face any issues i would recommend would upgrade again to V15.5 and take advantage of all the improvements. Even if you decide to keep using custom templates i would suggest creating new ones based on the V15.5 default templates are there are many additional features added. https://www.3cx.com/docs/custom-ip-phone-templates/
