upgrade to version 18- do phones need to be re-provisioned?

Hello All,

We are going to upgrade to version 18 soon. Due to some minor customization, we assume an in-place upgrade will fail. We are planning on doing a complete back up of the current server and restoring the backup to a brand new server. The new server will have the same IP address and of coure the same DNS name as the old server. Should the desk phones and soft phones automatically register on the new server? I did a test on my softphone and it registered fine (used host file to point to new server), but I am wondering if there would be any gotchas that I am not thinking of/aware of.

As you are going to be using the same server IP address, all devices will connect to the server without any actions,
