USB handset with windows client

For those wanting a more traditional telephone, is it possible to use a USB handset with the windows client?

Any audio device recognized by Windows will work in the basic sense.

I have recently done some preliminary testing with the Jabra Dial 550 and the Plantronics Calisto 240, both USB handsets with keypads and displays. With the appropriate Jabra and Plantronics software, they support answer, hangup and mute functions as well as some caller ID info on the display for incoming calls. However, the built-in keypad does not function for dialing on either handset.
