Hi Guys

So we have upgraded a clients server from v14 to the latest v15 server.

it is a call center and the majority of them use the 3cx soft phone, the older v14 soft phone.

After the upgrade which went flawlessly, the soft phones presence does not work and does not prompt for an update automatically.

However if we send a config file from the new v15 server and re provision the client, it prompts for an update and after installing the update the presence works 100%

is this normal?, do you need to re provision clients with a new config file after a v15 upgrade or is it supposed prompt you automatically without doing this?

I would always send an welcome email after major updates - as system parameters would have changed i.e. spilt DNS settings, FQDN etc

yeah it is just a schlep when you have to re-provision 700 clients

You can select multiply extensions by using Ctrl (select one by one) or shift (select block) , then click on 'Send Welcome email'

Also the welcome email will contain the credentials for the web client, (you can not see the password in the management console for this)

The local 3cxphone clients will generally upgrade just fine from v14 to v15 provided that the ports of the web server and the fqdn and internal fqdn or IP don't change. If any one item changes it could easily break it.

For external clients they really need to re-provision to operate correctly.

If you have 700 clients, I would push the software update through whatever tool you likely have for software deployment and send the welcome email again with instructions to the user to open the attachment to configure their phone.
