Hi guys,

I am currently in the process of upgrading all of our clients V16 U8a servers to V18.

So far I have upgraded 5 of our servers to U2 (Build 314) successfully and have not had any issues with these upgrades other than crazy high Disk utilization This also seems to be common across all servers now on V18 and Debian 10.
Last night when kicking off the next two upgrades, instead of updating to U2 (Build 314), one of the servers upgraded directly to U3 (Build 450).
The second server failed to upgrade - I need to investigate this further.

Since the upgrade, this server has unresponsive and since rebooting at 9:12AM this morning (2 hours ago), since then it seems to be fine.

I'm concerned that if we continue with upgrading our V16 U8a servers to V18, these will become a more widespread issues.

Details about the setup:
  • 3CX Version: Going from 16.0.8.16 to 18 Update 3 (Build 450)
  • Server OS: Going from Debian 9 to Debian 10
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where: Hosted by ourselves in Google Cloud
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: Yes
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: No
For reference here are some comparative Zabbix graphs between a recently updated server on U2 (Build 314) and the U3 (Build 450) having issues.

Has anyone else been experiencing this?

Hi @AdamR_Best,

We haven't had any reports of crashing after the update to U3 as of yet.

Does your PBX meet the minimum hardware requirements? https://www.3cx.com/docs/recommended-hardware-specifications-for-3cx/ How many extensions do you on the PBX?

Have you updated any other PBXs to U3 at this point? I know you said you did 1 but if you did any others, are they experiencing the same issue?

Hi Vasilis,

It does seem to be ok since the reboot this morning so I think this is an edge case at this stage....

Good to know @AdamR_Best. Let's keep and eye on it and if it crashes again unexpectedly, let me know!

Thanks mate, will do. I have done another one so I'll keep an eye on both to see if there's any dramas.
